I think Step Brothers is now my favourite Apatow/McKay flick. And it's my second favourite Will Ferrell flick: Stranger Than Fiction is still number one on my list, but then again I am quite fond of Marc Forster, so I'm a little biased.
Speaking of Marc Forster, the new James Bond marks his first action flick. His last movie was the very touching and very dramatic The Kite Runner, based upon the novel of the same name. Before that, the aforementioned Stranger Than Fiction. Finding Neverland and Monster's Ball were him too. It'll be interesting to see what he does with James Bond. I'll be in London when it comes out, so that will be ace.
I've been listening to The Arctic Monkeys a lot lately. They're pretty much fantastic. You should listen to them.
Recently they've been playing this terrible PSA on the radio about the education system. You might have heard it. It begins with a kid listing off a bunch of countries (most are European nations, if not all of them) and then this obnoxious woman comes on saying that all these countries have better schools/education systems than the USA, which is pretty much a given. She provides some statistics on how much better they score than us on math and science, all the while the kid is still in the background naming off numerous countries. So far, so good. Then she says we need to crack down, that we're falling behind. Okay, I'm digging it. But then she says that the best schools attract the best jobs, implying that the best paying jobs are going to move to the countries with the best education systems. This is where she loses me: no corporation is going to move its corporate headquarters to Belgium. Instead, they might open a branch there or pay the best Belgian they can find to come to the USA to work at their headquarters. Americans aren't going to lose their jobs to Europeans like the PSA implies. They're not going to lose them to Mexicans either (because the Mexicans take the jobs we DON'T want and WON'T do), but that's another story for another time.
